Waterset 5K Turkey Trot
A new tradition is about the take hold in Waterset: A Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.
This year, Newland Communities will sponsor the Waterset 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Morning.
Last year, a group of residents organized a neighborhood Thanksgiving Day race and there was a lot of interest. This year, Waterset, with resident organizers, is pleased to expand on that success by offering a chip-timed race on a flat race course, race shirts, awards and medals.
Proceeds from the race will also be donated to Doby Elementary School, Eisenhower Middle School and East Bay High School, which draw students from the Waterset community:
The goal is to make the event an annual tradition.
Awards will be given to the top male and female overall finishers, as well as Masters,
Grand Masters, and the top three male and female finishers in each age category.
A Kid’s Fun Run will also be held and each young participants will receive a special medal and a kids race t-shirt.
At the conclusion of the race, participants and their families are encouraged to enjoy the after-race party at Waterset’s Rock & Roll Bowl.
The race will be held rain or shine. Check in begins at 6:30 a.m., and the race begins at 7:30 a.m. Registration is open to both runners and walkers.
