“That’s the Community We Want to Be In”
When Art and Diane stopped by Apollo Beach on their way to Sarasota, they weren’t expecting to find a second home - but that’s exactly what they did. On a visit to their grandchildren, Diane explains, “We actually decided to stop by Apollo Beach and look around because we grew up here and it’s changed so much.”
During their stop, they visited Waterset and immediately fell in love. “As soon as we came to Waterset, we said, ‘That’s the community we want to be in.’”

Although they primarily live in Georgia, Art & Diane love the convenience of Waterset, especially for visiting family in Sarasota. “[Waterset is] close to a big city, close to Sarasota where our family is, yet it seems like a small and nice community to live in….This is a great spot between Sarasota and Tampa,” says Diane.

The couple also enjoys the convenience of the Tampa airport, which is about twenty minutes away from Waterset. Some of their out-of-state friends visit them in Waterset and some of their Waterset friends travel and visit them in Georgia! Diane says that instead of feeling like a secondary home, Waterset feels like an extension of her home. “When you drive into Waterset, you get a feeling of home and of community.”

When asked how they spend their time in Waterset, Art and Diane are family-oriented. “Our grandkids love to come up and use the Splash Pad-” begins Diane, when Art interrupts her: “Don’t forget the Easter Egg Hunt!” Art and Diane chat merrily about the opportunities they have to spend time with their grandchildren at Waterset and the many holiday activities sponsored by the community. Art says, “We’re excited about being here.”

Finally, Art and Diane explain that the ease of the homebuilding process was another huge draw for them. Having heard of Neal Communities, a prestigious builder well-known in Southwest Florida, including Sarasota, Art and Diane felt comfortable living out-of-state while their home was being built. “We found the perfect model for us,” says Art, and Diane agrees. “It’s just the right size for us because we visit often but we’re not here all the time.”

Overall, it’s clear that although this is Art & Diane’s second house, Waterset is a place that truly feels like home.
